The first traction engine tractor was sighted in the Dunolly district when that young whipper snapper John Smith bought himself one.

1908
John Gourley was admitted tot he Dunolly & District Hospital after having been thrown by his horse and injuring his thigh.

1915
The licence of the Bendigo Hotel was transferred to Flora Lizzie Harrison of Melbourne.
Who, by looking at the records, held it not quite 12 months before the Licences reduction Board delicenced the pub.

1862
A meeting was held at The Criterion Hotel (the original one in the first photo built in 1858)  to form a fire brigade.

This later version was built in 1863, renamed The Railway Hotel by later owner Francis Fearn in 1874.

1862
Half of the township of Inglewood, pictured HERE four years later, was destroyed by fire; more than 50 businesses were burnt to the ground in the principal part of the town.
Special constables were sworn in to help with the confusion and panic with the additional loss of 63 houses, 2 banks, 5 hotels and the Theatre Royal.

1892
Mr. William Robert Guilfoyle, curator of Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens and he of Guilfoyle's Volcano fame, visited the Government Scent Farm at Dunolly.
He was very impressed with the range of plants, the quality of the produce, but was also surprised that so little assistance was given by the Government.
Mr Guilfoyle felt that many people would visit such a lovely place if it were not so far from Melbourne.

Llanelly Motorcycle Swap Meet
