March 14 Justifiable Homicide at Burnt Creek

Mark Webster, butcher at Burnt Creek near Wigham’s Junction Hotel was later charged of the murder of Robert Williams. Williams’ wife and children had been living with Webster for 12 months when Williams began a drunken argument with Webster who claimed to have accidentally stabbed the victim during a physical struggle.
The jury returned the verdict of justifiable homicide, so Webster was discharged.
