July 14 More living history gone

Mr James Blake, a Waterloo veteran and resident of Dunolly, died aged 107.

The deceased had resided over forty years in the district being a general storekeeper At seventeen years of age he entered the East India Company's service, joining a cavalry regiment and obtaining certificates for his services. He was hale and strong up to within a short time of his death.
