July 2 went off with a bang

A huge explosion took place at the Queens Birthday Mine Company when someone placed some charges of lithofracteur on top of the boiler to soften. The boiler was broken apart, steam, water and timbers thrown 100 feet into the air, sheets of iron tossed a great distance and it was heard 12 miles away in Burnt Creek.
Lithofracteur is nitroglycerine.
