1859 Piggin and McDonald won the Govt contract to build the Telegraph Office at a cost of 409 pounds.

1863 Majorca post office opened.

1875 A man named Lynch was found drowned in a waterhole at Little Chinaman's this morning. He is supposed to have fallen in. There is no suspicion of foul play.

1915 Mr Ellerton, manager of a mining company at Puzzle Flat, Bealiba, lost control of the motorcycle he was riding to work and crashed into a tree. He is recovering at home satisfactorily.

1915 SHOOTING ON SUNDAY. At the Police Court before Mr Berriman. P.M., Ernest Faux. a youth, was fined 2 pound for carrying firearms on Sunday. Shooting has been indulged in freely of late on Sundays, and it is intended to try and put a stop to the practice.

1915 CHARITY CALRNIVAL. At the final meeting of the Charity Carnival Committee, the balance-sheet showed the profits to be £111/0I/I11 which was passed to the Dunolly District Hospital.

1939 A university thesis “The geology of the Rheola-Moliagul Auriferous Belt” submitted by CS Honman has been passed by the examiners for the degree for Master of Science.
