June 4

1862 Mr Martin’s store at Burnt Creek was robbed with the thieves entering via the next door butcher shop. They made off with a keg of rum, a case of pale brandy, 10 gallons of port wine, half a case of Old Tom, sundry loose bottles of spirits and 24lbs of tobacco, then rifled through Mr Martin’s trouser pockets in his bedroom and took a one pound note.
