1859 It was reported that gold duffing was going in the Dunolly neighbourhood; when inferior gold brought in from Castlemaine and Jim Crow neighbourhoods to hoodwink the banks which have now reduced their price for gold owing to the high price paid for this inferior stuff.

 1875 DUNOLLY, Mr William Vezey, bookseller and news agent, died suddenly this morning. He was a resident of this district for more than 19 years, and was universally respected. The melancholy event cast quite a gloom over the township, and expressions of regret were on every one's lips. Deceased was in his 70th year, and was unmarried. 
Diphtheria is prevalent. Mr DalrympIe, of Burnt Creek, has lost three children within the last three weeks from this disease.

1904 A chap at North Dunolly heard a noise amongst the old workings and when investigated a cow was found down a shaft.. It was quickly rescued and identified as one that had been reported as missing 3 weeks previously, apart from being thin the animal was otherwise unhurt.

 1959 Avoca to Ararat railway line closed. (reopened 29 Oct 1966).
