November 8 Nganko Nyawiyu



1870 A 57oz nugget was found at Gipsy Rush and sold to the London Chartered Bank.

 1878 The Hospital Fete was a great success; the weather was magnificent with over 2000 people in attendance and collection expected to be approx. £400 .

 1902 Sparrows are doing a great deal of damage to the crops with acres having been destroyed.

 1916 Military Medical Board A large number of young men came from distances ranging from seven to 20 miles to meet a medical board appointed to examine those rejected at previous examinations for military training. General dissatisfaction was expressed when the men arrived in the Orderly Room to find there was no one there to inspect them. After waiting three hours those appointed arrived on the scene and dealt with 58 cases of which 32 were passed as fit. 22 rejected as unfit and four rejected as temporarily rejected as unfit. Some did not appear.

1952 Dunolly Old Boys and Girls held a get together basket tea and annual meeting in Fitzroy Gardens.

 1954 Fruit orchards at Bealiba are full of trees, of all varieties, shedding fruit and leaves in a most unusual way.
